cincy trip

This morning, Daddy, Mommy and I went to Cincinnati along with Djumins family (Akin, Gun, Matt and Titi), Bebe, om Hendy, om Acong, tante Anggi and tante Johana. It was less than 2 hours drive with an early lunch at Mc.Donald's before we're heading to the Cincinnati Museum Center.
It was a beautiful cold sunny day to start with, but ended with heavy snow showers in the afternoon, but it is still a perfect day.
There are 4 museums inside, The Duke Energy Children's Museum (where I spent most of my time there), the History Museum, the Natural History Museum and the Omnimax Theatre.

Here are some pictures from many activities I had there.

aku anak indonesia

Eventhough i like pizza, spaghetti, ham & cheese sandwich, i still like mie goreng, homemade soup, and indomie for sure, but Mommy always make an addition to my indomie with egg, sausage/ham, and veggie like spinach/broccoli.

Other indonesian things i like is the batik and all the traditional outfits, from Java, Bali, etc. I love wearing them all :) I even wear my batik on school picture.

I joined a fashion show in Indonesian Night with Mommy last year, eventhough I wasn't really walk.. I asked Mommy to hold me :)

Most of my outfits are from Indonesia, from grandma An, oma Susanti, auntie Olip and tante Meme.

a fun winter weekend

saturday, december 19th 2009

We usually wake up late on Saturdays, but not that day. We get dressed and left home at 9am. Daddy, om Hendy and om Ariel were in a pursuit of dim sum that morning and they were bummed since no chinese restaurant open before 11am. Originally they excitedly and purposedly went to Sun Flower (noticed how many times I mentioned 'Sun Flower' later on), then Lee Garden, and tried to call some other restaurants with no hope. So we decided to go to First Watch at Worthington Square Mall as tante Gun suggested. I had a lot of fun there with Matthew. While we're waiting for our table, we played around the big Christmas tree and took some pictures with the soldier.

From there we headed to Polaris Mall to play at the zoo play area, and then we were trying to get a picture with Santa, but was not succesfull. Titi and I were sitting nicely on Santa's lap, but Matthew refuse to get near him, so I moved to sit on a reindeer and Matt was put down on Santa's lap which was not a good idea. He started to cry and Titi confused and cried too. But it was okay with me, I don't care about the picture. I got a lollipop.

That day was snowing for the first time in December with a significant amount of snow to play with, and a perfect snow condition to make a snowman.

That afternoon, Mommy and I decided to make a firefighter instead of a regular snowman, since we don't have the usual decoration for a snowman. So there it was.. a mini snow-firefighter with a goggle on :) The red circle and the pink chalk were the buttons, with a baby carrot for the nose.

Then I played snow throwing with Daddy and Mommy until I cried 2 times when the snow balls hit my face or get into my back. I don't like the cold feeling of snow/ice landed on my skin.

It was a short fun time that afternoon, then I enjoyed some oranges inside while watching food network challenge of christmas tree edible decoration.

In the evening, we had MG at home as usual. Matt and I played in the basement with Daddy. After that we went to Sun Flower restaurant to have dinner and ice cream treat at Jeni's Dublin for dessert. Yumm...

sunday, december 20th

In the morning I went to Xenos as usual with Mommy and Bebe, enjoyed a donut and had a dim-sum at Sun Flower restaurant for lunch. Took a short nap, then in the afternoon we went to Walmart to get some oranges... again. (The clementines are in season now) with Daddy, Mommy and Bebe.

Next, we were heading to downtown to see some christmas lights display at State Auto park. It was very nice. There are some statue figures of Christmas story with pretty lights decoration. The three wise men, the shepherd and the sheep, King Herod, Mary and Gabriel, and the manger with baby Jesus in it.

And then, for dinner, we're going to Dirty Frank's. Daddy and Mommy's favorite hotdogs restaurant. I ordered the Classy Lady, a hotdog topped with cheddar cheese sauce and crushed chips.. with a lot of ketchup ofcourse! I ate half of the dog and tried some of the tatter tots.

With the stomach full, we drove back up to OSU Ice Ring. This was my second time learning to skate. Andrew was there and Matthew came later. I really enjoyed skating with Andrew. I think I was encouraged to skate because of Andrew's courage and persistency. With the help of Weo and om Hendy, I can make a full round. Then Daddy came to join me to skate and made another round.
Check out the video here: http://www.youtube.com/user/4870arthurpl#p/u/8/bH6Qb7DCgU0
Mommy told me if I really want to skate I have to persistently come and learn. Maybe Weo can be my personal trainer :) Daddy promised me to get the skate if I can skate without assistance :)

There's one more place I went a week after this, to see some beautiful lights at Pickerington. It was pretty far, about 30min drive, but it was so cool! We sat inside the car, listening to 93.9, and saw the beautiful lights blinking with the same rythm with the music. Here's the video: http://www.youtube.com/user/4870arthurpl#p/a/f/0/26Mz9qMtUJc

fourth birthday

december 10th 2009... my 4th birthday.

This year we don't have a party, but we still celebrating it in a simple way. Mommy keeps reminding me that birthday is about giving thanks to God and share it with friends, because I keep thinking about the presents :)
Early in the morning, Daddy and Mommy woke me up at 6.30am, and told me to open up some presents. First, I opened the gift from tante Stella. It was a Nutcracker wood toy and a Christmas story book. Then a painting kit and digital painting system from Matthew and Michael. A doctor's kit from Andrew, and I a quitetime book and leapfrog tag system from Meme, tante Ria, Dudud, om Hendy. I also got a color copier from cici Nicole. A first act discovery guitar from grandma & grandpa. From Mommy and Daddy, except lots of love, I got some Legos :)
That's plenty of gifts I have and I need to learn to give thanks and share it with my friends.

I also had a great time at school celebrating my birthday. Mommy & I baked some red velvet cupcakes the night before. I help to put the liners on the pan and tante Rio helped pouring the cake mix into the pan. All my friends were excited knowing it was my birthday and enjoyed the cake. It should be a pirate cake, with some pirate things candles, but Mommy forgot to bring the lighter, so no blowing candles at the school. All my friends sang happy birthday to me. The story time was very special too, it's about the birth of Jesus who was born in a manger without any luxury and fancy things I have now. How blessed I am for having any kind of things and especially having a loving family and friends.
When dismissal, Mommy helped giving out the goodie bags to my friends. Lots of nice little things inside. From KitKat, mini juice, fruitsnacks, a set of little toys (MacQueen for the boys and Princesses/TinkerBell for the girls), gold coin and a pirate tatoo sticker.

The evening I went to Pacemont with Daddy and Mommy for Richard and tante Rina farewell party. It was sad but joyful to see them going back for good and don't know when I can meet them again in the future. I sure will miss them.
I got to play all night long and watching Barney and Friends with Andrew and Matthew. We played at Meme and Sisi's room. Tante Ria baked a cake also and Mommy & Sisi put some creamcheese frosting and sprinkle, then put all the 6 pirate candles on top of it with the '4' candle also. Then everyone sang happy birthday to me and we all blow the candles with my best friends.

I love being 4!

f a l l 2 0 0 9

my oh my... it's been a while Mommy hasn't wrote anything. There are a lot of things going on. Exciting things! Ready for a long story?

First, grandma An, grandpa Dicky and grandma Yayuk came to visit us, and we had a whole week trip to Niagara Falls and New England area. You can check out our pictures here: http://picasaweb.google.com/setiabud/RoadTrip2009#

It was a lot of fun, especially we went to the Old Orchard Beach to play on the beach and we saw many beautiful sea/ocean view.
I met koko Fiel and Cici Beyesha for the first time when we visited them in NewYork city. They are my cousins.

Then on the first day of September, I went to school! My first real school at Calumet Christian School. I just love it on the first time. I learn quickly about all the rules, all my friends, my teacher and all the stuff going on when you go to school.

Mrs.Frechette is a very friendly and loving teacher, even I got time-outs several times :) I know all my friends, 9 friends: Michael, Andrew, Bella, Lucy, Anna, Layla, AJ and Claire. It's a very small class. I love to draw and coloring since then.

We have several events at the school: first we went to a pumpkinpatch and rode the wagon. I picked several indian corns, gourds and pumpkins. My bag was very heavy that I had Mommy to carry it for me.

(at the corn field with Andrew & Lucy)

(at the pumpkin patch)

Next we had a Halloween Party. All of my friends came to school with costumes. I was a Bumble Bee transformer. We had a parade to the first to third grade classes, and the teachers' office. We even play at the playgroung wearing the costume!

(with mrs. frechette)

I also did some pumpkin carving with tante2. Bebe helped me to carved it, because I got bored and it was hard. But, the fun things in halloween is the 'trick or treat'. I went around the neighborhood with Daddy and got some sweets to enjoy. Not as many as last year, to keep it enough for a week (that's what Momy thought)
Here's the pictures:

I went to Put-in Bay with Daddy and Mommy's friends. It was cold, but fun, because we had to drive 2.5 hours to the port then crossed the lake by ferryboat. We rode the long golfcart there and climbed up to the national monument. But it was very cold and windy, so I stayed inside. We also went to Perry's cave to see the stalamite and stalagtite. It was so cool to walk in the dark and explore some stalagmite that has funny shape like animals.

On October 22nd, we celebrated Daddy's birthday. Mommy made some yellow rice and called it 'tumpeng', and some of Daddy and Mommy's friends came over. And there was a cake :)
http://http://picasaweb.google.com/setiabud/JoeSBirthday#

On the first week of November, there was a fire-drill at school. It was the first time I heard fire alarm went off. It was very loud. All of sudden, Mrs. Frechette told ud to drop our toys, line-up and walked out from the classroom, out from the building in a hurry with our mouth shut. Mommy was in my class volunteering, so she helped all my friends to walked out. She said most of us barely walk in a line and we were the slowest one and took the longest walk to the farthest spot off the building. Then Mrs. Frechette explained to us what was going on.

Now, today, I had a Thanksgiving Party at school. I learn many things about the Indians culture and why they celebrating with a feast. I learn that we have so many things.. all of things to give thanks to God. I told Mrs. Frechette that I give thanks for turkey and hands :)
I tried on some of the Indians clothes, play with some dried corns, reading some stories about Thanksgiving, and we're making a headband like the Indians. Mrs. Frechette pretended as the pilgrim when we had the feast and Claire giving thanks to God for our food. We had a lot of food today to enjoy. But earlier this morning in the class, Mommy and Mrs. Hullet were cracking up some nuts for us to see and eat :) Look at the picture of our plate, we had: cornbread with honey, pumpkin pie with whip cream, banana muffin (Mommy made it, and I love them :)), some blueberries, caramel popcorns beef jerky, some milk and apple cider. I only ate the muffins, corn bread and a bite of pumpkin pie.

There'll be some more fun and interesting things to explore and enjoy.

red white and boom!

Friday, July 3rd 2009, I went to downtown with Daddy, Mommy and all their friends to see fireworks for United States Independence Day celebration.

It's a long way to get there. First we stopped at Matthew's house for dinner, then we all walked down the street to Hight St, to catch the bus. We had to wait for a while until the bus arrived. Thankfully, Matthew and I were sitting on the stroller when all the long walk took place :)

It's been a while I hadn't ride the bus. I was so exciting. When the bus reached campus area, it became so full and packed with all people going to downtown.
Then we're off at Long Street, downtown and took another long walk to get the good spot.

Finally, we settled down on the pavement across the river from the Veteran's Memorial Building. I walked with Bebe to go to some portable potty, then we walked around to see all the things around. There're soooo many people.

Finally, after the sun set, we all sat down and enjoying some snacks, funnel cakes, blooming onions and juices.
I heard several loud canon shots before the fireworks began. They were very loud! I can feel my heart beating and the vibration on the ground.
10pm, everyone standup when they played the Star-Spangled Banner song.

Finally, the fireworks began! It was very LOUD! I sat on Daddy's lap and asked him to cover my ears. Surprisingly, I enjoyed watching the fireworks. I didn't like it before, but with both my ears covered, I can see the beauty of the fireworks.

It took maybe 30 minutes after the show finished, then again, we had to walked back to High Street to catch the bus back to Matthew's house.

We had to wait in line with so many people trying to get to the bus as fast as they could.
I sat on the back of the bus on Mommy's lap, next to Dudud and Matthew's who sat on Bebe's lap. I was very tired and slept on the way back, whick took almost 1 hour!

When the bus stopped, we still need to walk back, but Dudud held me because I was too heavy for Mommy now :)

Dudud took us home to have a good night sleep, without another peep...

PerPer 2.0

Meet my new PerPer and his friend, FishyFishy.

Daddy and I went again to the pet store to get another fish, the day after PerPer the First died, but instead of one, I get two! THANKS, Daddy!

my first pet funeral

Last night, on June 24th 2009, my little blue betta fish, PerPer, died after suffered several heart attacks (shocked from hearing us smacking the flies) and maybe consumed some dead flies in the tank.

I was so sad and told Mommy some ways to make it alive; change the water, wait a little longer that he'd swim again and knock the tank. It's even more sad when Mommy told me that there's nothing I can do if something or someone dies.

So finally I was ready for the funeral. Mommy dig the ground at the backyard and put PerPer inside then covered with some soils. I put the American flag for the sign. PerPer is American :)

Bye bye PerPer.. I will have another one soon.. but I'll miss you.

jello day

Today I'm not going to playgroup. it is cancelled, so Mommy and I are thinking of making jello. I asked her to make jello from 2 days ago, because I saw some jelly moldings laying around in the kitchen. (They belong to tante Vonny who just moved to our house).

So, we make it! It's lychee flavor jelly. I helped Mommy stirring the mixture on the stove, wiping the molding, checking out whether the jelly ready or not, and finally testing it :)

I finish all the jelly in the sea creatures molding just in minutes! I left 1 for Mommy.

We have to wait longer for the bigger moldings. I need to wait after dinner tonight.
